Roy is about six years old and is a very good eater. Many orangutans have a favourite fruit but not Roy, he loves them all! He is never greedy with fruit and often shares with his best friend Sydney. He is good at finding fruit in the forest and is proud to give his riches to his caregiver. Although Roy loves being in the forest, he still needs reassurance to climb high into the canopy. Sydney is a very confident climber and is a good influence on Roy. Roy often takes breaks from forest play. He finds a nice shady spot on the ground where he can hide behind leaves for some quiet time. The leaves provide the perfect cover to have a mid-afternoon snack in peace. He loves to practice his nest-making skills while resting. He collects branches and leaves, lays them in a pile, and will hide fruit and other treasures in his caches. Roy is approximately 35 pounds (16 kilograms) and very healthy. He is well on his way to returning to the forest in a few years.
